Historic Shot of Arcadian Moon Property

In a former life, a catfish farm occupied our property, and many of our local customers either remember it or have heard stories about it. By the time we purchased the land it was in private hands, and a second conjoined home had been added to the south of the original farmhouse. In the months leading up to our opening, the old homestead kitchen was refashioned as our tasting room, the ample deck was reinforced to support large crowds and the two outbuildings were refitted to house production and host events.

In Greek poetic fantasy, Arkadia means “a pastoral paradise.” With four lakes on 75 acres, the name Arcadian Moon is certainly an apt one, and our logo is the representation of the moon reflecting off of our lakes. Because starting this winery was a dream, and where but the stars do we look when dreaming, our first series of Wines was named for those heavenly bodies – stars, moons, and constellations.

Since opening our doors in 2013 as Arcadian Moon Vineyards & Winery with a focus on Midwestern varietals and desire to become one of Missouri’s best winery destinations, we’ve expanded rapidly, adding live music on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons from spring to fall, opened a full-service kitchen serving wood-fired pizzas and casual cuisine seven days a week, and are now one of Missouri’s newest craft breweries. To better reflect this growth and organic transformation, we now go by Arcadian Moon Winery & Brewery, but to our friends, family and regulars, we’re just “Arcadian Moon” – or sometimes simply “The Moon.”
